Migrating to Wordpress - a rant

I recently wrote about my blog's old infrastructure and mentioned that I was about to change this. I then also wrote about the new setup I wanted to use to host my blog. Well this is a rant about the process of migrating my blog over to WordPress.

Note: This is an unedited stream of consciousness.

• I decided to stop being lazy and start the migration at 11:15 pm on a Friday night. Why do I hate myself you ask? I don't know.
• I am going to start with the WordPress paid plan because I don't want to bother with the open source setup. Currently only going in for a monthly plan, because I don't want to pay for a year if this doesn't work.
• I fork over $8 for the premium plan, only to realize that I didn't read the fine print and that I need a business plan. This means I now need to part with an additional $25. WTF?
• Ok, now to do what I came here to do. Install the AMP for WordPress plugin. This was relatively easy, however, the description of the plugin is WAY TOO LONG.
• Now to get naina.app to point to the WordPress hosted site. This was trivial using the instructions provided for Google Domains.
• Now to make an under construction page - Easy!
• Now to find an AMP compatible theme - I found one listed on amp-wp.org. I install that theme - great!
• OK new problem - it seems like the theme doesn't activate AMP on Desktop? Let's debug in the AMP for WordPress plugin shall we?
• Oh this is because I have Reader mode turned on. I need to switch to Standard Mode - why isn’t this the default? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Ok that's done.
• More problems! Yeah! The coming soon page isn’t compatible with AMP as it lays things out weird.
• Looks like I will to have go live with my Homepage today.

• Right now it's time to move over content form my old infrastructure to the new one.
• ARGH! Is there no automated way of doing this?
• I add the Import Markdown plugin - but that only allows me to import one files at a time and then edit it to make sure it matches the new Post format.
