Books I read in October 2022

We are ramping up to holiday season aka reading season! Noveber and December is when I spend time on flights and usually spend some of that time reading! However, I am getting ahead of myself. Here are books I read in October 2022!

The Invisible Kingdom by Meghan O’Rourke

I picked up The Invisible Kingdom to continue learning about the communities that the healthcare industry in the US and abroad misses catering to - those suffering fro autoimmune diseases. It is impossible to read this book and not feel the frustration being felt by those who suffer from autoimmune disease but are repeatedly misdiagnosed or ignored.

Creativity, Inc. by Amy Wallace and Edwin Catmull

I have been a long time admirer of PIXAR movies and they are the childhood movies I still recommend to this day. They are charming, moving, full of humour and most importantly dont beat around the bush when it omes to sensitive topics. This is why I was intrigues by this book. It also provided the other side's view on the PIXAR acquisition by Disney which I read about in Bob Iger's book. The book went into great detail about the systems that Edwin Catmull and team had set up to create the movies that PIXAR is known for and shared a behind the scenes view on some of those movies. It's definitely a book every PIXAR buff should read.

Trillion Dollar Coach by Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg and Alan Eagle

I had bought this book a while ago when it originally came out and it has been on my shelf since then. I found that the book offered what could be seen as obvious advice about how to build teams empathetically and how compassion should always be at the forefront of anyone working ever. This is when dealing with coworkers, reports and users. I did not find it ground breaking in any way.
