Skaneateles: an itinerary

I recently went up to the Finger lakes in upstate New York for the February long weekend. Since this was the winter our activities were restricted to indoor activities, however I hear it's a beautiful place to go to in the summer as well.

Accommodation

We stayed at the Mirbeau Skaneateles which is a lovely boutique spa and hotel. While staying here is definitely expensive, I would recommend visiting the hot tub and the spa for a day visit even if you aren't staying here.

Activities

  • Charlie Major Nature Trail - we hiked some of this in the snow as well.

  • Carpenter Falls

  • Skaneateles Lake

    • Walk along it

    • Take a boat tour

    • Take a fishing boat

    • Just take a boat and chill :P

  • Mirbeau Skaneateles Spa

  • Lockwood Lavender Farm*

  • Gallery 54*

  • Shopping

    • Interiors: DROOZ and Company

    • Clothing: Skaneateles 300

Food and Drinks

  • Elephant and The Dove - a Mexican place in upstate New York - temper your expectations. The salsa, guac and chips were quite good though.

  • Mirbeau Skaneateles Spa - we had our meals at the hotel most often

  • The Krebs*

  • Valentine's Delicatessen*

  • Last Shot Distillery* - stopped here to use the bathroom only

  • Anyela's Vineyards*
