My favourite places to travel

I am privileged enough to have been to 25 countries and probably a 100 cities around the world. So here are some of my superlatives to some of the cities and countries around the world.

Disclaimer: I haven’t been to all 190+ countries around the world - so these are my awards.

Safest place for solo female travelers

Japan is hands down one of the safest countries I have experienced as a solo female traveler. This is despite the language barrier. The transport system is easy to understand and the Japanese are always willing and eager to help a lost tourist!

Best for cheap eats

Mexico City may just be my food mecca! It has been inspired by many a food culture - Arab, French, Spanish, etc. Plus the food is always reasonably priced making it a winner for both delicious and well priced food in my book!

Best known for it’s art scene

Paris and France in general have the most diverse range of artists displayed in accessible museums across the country.

Best for beach lovers

There is no beach more lovely than the ones in Maui or Hawai’i in general. Maui will always hold a special place in my heart for that reason. I can’t wait to be back swimming, reading and snorkeling in Hawai’i!

Best for adrenaline junkies (water only)

There is no place like the Great Barrier Reef if you love water activities - snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, etc. The beaches are surprisingly pristine given the tourism as well if you are traveling with folks who don’t like overdosing on adrenaline.

Best music

I have never been more in love with music than I have been in the clubs, bars and streets of Rio and Sao Paulo. I can’t wait to experience the music scence in Brazil again!

Can get decent food here - regardless of cuisine

Canada with it’s growing immigrant population is a safe haven to many an immigrant cuisine. Which means you will always be able to get a bite of something that reminds you of home be it in Toronto or Vancouver!

New York City is a close runner up. The city has delicious institutions that cover any and all cuisine your little heart could dream of! All a convenient subway ride away!
