Yes, the need for romance continues. Sue me.

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

I didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did. I picked it up cause it was part of my birthday gift, but I was a bit standoffish about it. Magic and love? How can I forget how much I loved This Time Tomorrow? I loved this book for all the reasons I loved This Time Tomorrow. New York through the ages, heart break and the resulting self discovery and an apartment so magical it helps you find what you need - love and intimacy with someone who you wouldn’t have met in your daily life. The book is centered around an apartment that randomly decides to slip 7 years into the past every so often putting our heroes into the conundrum of deciding what life they want to live. Their past or present? I loved it and it was gracefully written too. Love love love!

Dangerous Liasons by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos

I didn’t like this book. I wanted to like this book. But I didn’t. I can see how you would like this book. Two twisted characters playing with the feelings of everyone around them, this is movie stuff, TV shows can be made of this. In fact I am more likely to enjoy this book if it were adapted for today. But I don’t think I can enjoy fiction where I don’t empathize with at least one protagonist and this book has many. NEITHER OF WHOM I CARE FOR. Even the victims are victimizing someone else. No.

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

This book would be my favourite of the year If all my favourite romance authors weren’t releasing new books this year. Never have I seen such a “yes this could be me“ love story. This book touches on finding love through all the obstacles that anxiety, divorce, a miscarriage bring to your life. It’s the sweetest romance you will ever see. Please please please read it.
