Books I read in March, 2023
March was a crash course in romance. I read 3 romance novels - two released and one soon to be released! I have also started on 8 Rules of Love: How to Find It, Keep It and Let It Go by Jay Shetty and am enjoying it so far.
The Duke and I by Julia Quinn
In anticipation of the release of Charlotte (a Bridgerton spin off) on Netflix, I got on the wait list for Bridgerton Volume 1. The book was a delight to read! I am glad that the TV show was loyal to the book in the main plot points. However, won’t lie I missed the London Grammar renditions of pop songs. I do enjoy the fight scenes in the book a lot more - due to the development. They seem a bit disjoint in the book.
The Viscount who loved me by Julia Quinn
I was surprised by how much Season 2 of the Bridgerton series diverged from Book 2. For example the fact that Kate and Anthony are forced to marry each other after being caught in a compromising position. I definitely understand Anthony a lot more in the books. You understand his fear of death and how he thinks of his mortality and bases his life decisions based on that understanding. You definitely like Anthony more in the books. However, seeing brown women play Edwina and Kate means once again the movies might win my heart again! Can’t wait to read the third book!
Tastes like Shakkar by Nisha Sharma
I have waited so long to read about Bobby’s love story! I love this desi take on Much Ado About Nothing. You also feel like Bunty and Bobby’s relationship is more “real“. You see them struggle with every day desi problems - long distance, overbearing families and expectations. That definitely endears them to me over Kareena and Prem. The smut is also exists in larger quantities and is more risque! I like others am not a fan of sequels. However, Nisha Sharma has proven me wrong. I can’t wait to see what Shakespeare inspires the third installment between Deepika and Veer!!!
