Books I read in April, 2023

April was a continuation in romance. I read 3 pieces of fiction - two romance and one about a family!

An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn

Did I continue and read the third book in the Juli Quinn Bridgerton universe? Yes. I am however torn as I don’t know how I feel about Benedict. He essentially forces a woman to be his mistress and uses his station above her to do so. Which I guess was fine in regency times? No. The story is classic Cinderella and so you can’t help cheer on Sophie Beckett and how Benedict handles her step family definitely makes you give him credit.

Happy Place by Emily Henry

My most waited annual book is always Emily Henry’s book. And this year I was one again in Toronto and read this book on a trip with my cousin. Did I read it all in nearly one night? Yes. Is it my famous? No. It in fact might be my lease favourite. This is because I fall in love with Sabrina, Cleo and Harriet’s friendship more than I did Wyn and Harriet’s love story. Maybe it’s because I am not in my second chance era? However, I think that before they get together again they did need to do a lot of self work. But :shrug. However, this book made me realistically consider the idea of an annual friendship holiday. So I am curious if my friend circle can pull it off?

The Vacationers by Emma Straub

This was my favourite book of the month. Again a vacation book. A family on its edge and friends head to Mallorca for a holiday. I went to Mallorca in October and definitely want to go back in the summer and eat delicious food. Yum yum. I loved each character and was rooting for them to no end. I definitely want to pick up more of Emma Straub’s works cause I love her ability to write redeemable characters.
