Kyoto: an itinerary

Where Tokyo was hectic, Kyoto was calm and peaceful with a slower pace of life. So here is my dream Kyoto itinerary from way back when!

Tips

  • JRPass needs to be shipped to you in your home country so leave time for it to arrive.

  • Kiyomizu-dera temple

  • Arashiyama Bamboo Forest - be careful of monkeys

  • Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine - wear walking shoes!!!

  • Nishiki Market

  • Keage Incline

  • Ryoan-ji temple

  • Take a day trip to Nara, see and feed the wild deer.

  • Take a shinkansen (bullet train) to Osaka

  • Studio Ghibli
