Books I read in July 2024

If it’s not obvious, I read all the fiction books I was allowing myself to read and now here we are. Reading non fiction! But some of them were fun!

Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara

I listened to this book by the ex-GM of Eleven Madison Park and immediately wanted to eat there and be delighted by the experience. Has this book set unreasonable expectations on what hostpitality should be? Yes. Am I unreasonably excited to read non cookbooks by those in the culinary industry? Also yes! I think its a lovely book for Product Managers to read/listen to. It really makes you think about your users/customers in a new light.

Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci

I followed a cuisine related book with another one. Stanley Tucci is everyone’s favourite in the movie and the food industry. I recently found out that he had written about his love for food and found the audio books. There is something uniquely charming about listening to him speak about his love for food. This book made me want to his show on Italy so it was a great advertisement for that and left me with many Italian dishes I wanted to cook soon! :)

How the Pill Changes Everything: Your Brain on Birth Control by Sarah E. Hill

I think this book should be given to every woman before she chooses to go on birth control. As someone who has spent a year on birth control in conjuction with Accutane I was surprised. by how much I learned from this book. It’s necessary that such a pivotal decision re: being on birth control is accompanied by as much information as possible and this one presents the information in an accessible way such that I, someone who hates medicine understood the information!
