My struggles with podcasting

My poor podcast had a great first season. I released an episode a month. However, that track record went down the drain 2022 and 2023 due to personal reasons. I have been thinking about getting back into the swing of things and in fact being more aggressive (have you met me?)

So, this begs the question - why did I start the podcast in the first place? I did it to encourage others to read more. I have genuinely found comfort in reading, specially in difficult times, books have provided me escape and have never judged me. I want to help others find that same comfort.

Now an argument could be made that I don’t like listening to podcasts myself, so what makes me think I have the right to produce a podcast? I don’t want to product long podcasts that span an hour - I want to be the voice note you listen to when performing an errand such as doing the dishes or a friend you listen to when doing your overly complicated skincae routine. Lol. I do this for my friends and want to do this for more people.

Podcast Goals

With that preamble, here are my goals for my podcast in 2024:

  • Have >100 listens per podcast episode

  • Have >100 followers on Spotify

  • Quietly release first 6 episodes to see if I can sustainably do this.

  • 24 episodes released in 2024

    • New topic every month

    • End of month recap of books read that month.

  • 18 episodes released in 2025

    • New topic every month

    • End of month recap of books read that month.

  • Be in a position to invite guests in 2025.
