Dusseldorf: an itinerary

I have now been to Dusseldorf 3 times (I think?) to visit my brother, so here is my itinerary!

*Note: Things I researched but didn’t end up doing are denoted with a `` (asterisk)*

Activities

  • Visit Altstadt (Old Town)

    • Walk around Carlsplatz market to pick a food souvenir if that interests you

    • The city’s Altstadt is known as ‘the longest bar in the world’ due to the astronomic number of pubs

  • Walk along the River Rhine and see the Rhine tower

  • Visit the many cool buildings in MedienHafen

    • Watch out for the famous Neuer Zollhof complex by renowned architect Frank Gehry

  • Hit Japanviertel (Little Tokyo) to see how Europe’s largest Japanese population lives, shops and eats!

  • Look at street art on Kiefernstraße in Flingern-Süd

  • Explore the hip neighbourhood of Flingern-Nord

  • Catch a concert at Tonhalle Düsseldorf

  • Explore Schloss Benrath

  • PIcnic in or walk through Hofgarten

  • Visit a Christmas market if you are visiting around that time

  • Shop along Königsallee

    • Walk past Kö-Bogen

    • Walk past bauhaus cool Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus

Food

  • Meals

    • ĂN BÁNH MÌ - for the Banh mi not their pho

    • I love going to Vapiano when visiting Germany - it’s fast casual Italian food.

    • Grab a bottle of Fritzkola from a grocery store! It’s my absolute favourite!

    • Takumi NINE for ramen*

  • Bakeries and cafes - go there for an afternoon treat

    • Café Hüftgold - my brother lived near this cafe and we always had our Sunday bagel, cake and juice from here!
