Key West: an itinerary

If you saw my Stockholm itinerary, I didn’t stop my tour of Scandinavia there! I went onto what has now potentially become my favourite city in Europe - COPENHAGEN! So here are my recommendations

*Note: Things I researched but didn’t end up doing are denoted with a `` (asterisk)*

Accommodation

We stayed at the Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club booked via Booking.com. The hotel was lovely, clean and had free parking. We only spent nights here so it did the job and I can’t say more about the hotel.

Activities

  • Bahia Honda State Park - Park with 3 sandy beaches, kayak rentals & snorkeling tours. We just drove up and spent time on the beaches here.

  • Southern most point of the USA - on a clear day you can apparently see all the way to Cuba!

  • Snorkeling at Islamorada - we went with Robbie’s and had a lovely time and saw loads of marine life at Alligator Reef Lighthouse!

  • Hang out a sandbar or kayak around it! We spent time at Vaca Keys with Sunset Watersports

  • Watch the sunset at Mallory Square with an ice cream from Gladiator’s ice cream

  • The Hemingway Home and Museum* - I have some regrets about not going here!

  • Smathers Beach* for a good beach-y time!

  • Fort Zachary State Park beach* - why not get a fort and a beach in one go??

Food

  • Amigos Tortilla Bar - don’t expect mind bogglingly great food on the Key West but this definitely hit the mark.

  • Kermit’s Key Lime pie - you can’t go to Key West and not eat Key Lime pie!
